Sound Overview

Sound is what we hear. 

There are different types of recording sound. 

If you are to record inside you would use a studio quality mic that could get a clean sound. To get the cleanest sound you need to use a pop mic to get rid of a popping sound that comes when you say 'P' or 'B'

Recording outside you should use a boom stick to record. If you are recording outside and the recording picks up the wind then you would need to re-record.  The gain on a mic is what the real time volume is. Recording equipment comes in the quality of the price, if it is more expensive it would most likely be better quality. You need to make sure that you have the right equipment for the right environment. you cant use a indoor mic outside because it would sound odd. 

Deadspace Sound Design

This was to edit the audio for a video from the game: Deadspace

I added all of the sound effects including the footsteps and gas. This was made on Adobe Audition. I put down markers (M) to know where to put the footsteps. This made it a lot easier to do. The markers are removed in the clip below but wherever there is a cut there was a marker on the screen. (this made it hard to see sometimes)

There was an added video to show what the sound effects looked like. You can see that the pink and light blue/ cyan area is cut up a lot. This is because that is all of the footsteps added in. The other noises are background noises that add more of an effect to the video as a whole. The music added was from the film Alien. There is a scene in the clip where there is gas that comes out of a pipe. I made it so that the when the gas on the right side came out it was heard in the right ear and the same for the left (this is only really for headphone users). I had learned how to add reverb on Abobe Audition in this task. I am also pretty happy with how perfectly in sync the sounds was.  

GOOD vs BAD News Audio Recording

I was given a video/ audio recording that I had to make the audio sound better for. The way that I did this was by taking the original video and adding on the audio to have a clearer recording. The original recording had a lot of background noise that was not needed. Here is the first recording.   

You can hear when watching this video that there is a lot of background noise to be heard. 

This is what I fixed up, I removed the audio from the original video and added the new audio. To make it sound good I synchronised the audio to fit the original before deleting it. This have the audio a whole new look  

You can see the comparison between the 2 below.  

As you can see there is a complete difference in audio. The first one had very clear background noise. The second one's audio is a lot clearer and sharper. The second one sounds more pleasing because there is no ambient noise. The clearer tone is a nicer sound and feels more professional.    

This Abobe Premier Pro project is a very simple one that does a lot of difference. You can see that the audios are synced on the timeline. This makes sure that the audios sound perfect together and doesn't sound out of sync in the video.
