Recent News Articles
(in the last 10 years)
Recently there has been tension between Russia and Ukraine. This has been all over the media recently. These tensions between the country are escalating and some people are speculating a war is approaching. Recently the US had put in 8500 men in Europe just in case they are needed.
The reason this is all happening is because Putin believes that Russia and Ukraine are 'as one'
I found this by looking at the current news and seeing hat this was happening and I interested me.
Russia has been in conflict before being the cold war, Russia is usually involved in world conflicts.
This interested me because being from the UK I would be affected by this.
Boris Johnson has recently been involved with a 'lockdown scandal' where he was caught having a party in Christmas 2020. Opposite parties of The PM are trying to get him to resign or trying to get him kicked out with a vote of no confidence. This all came along when a video of the party was leaked to the press and then went widespread around the world.
The picture above is the most recent article that has been released on this situation
The reason so many people are upset at the PM is because during the time these party's took place England was in heavy Covid-19 restrictions meaning that such party's couldn't take place.
The Black Lives Matter movement was started by the murder or US citizen George Floyd. The murder by police brutality had shook the world causing protests to rise up around the world. The Black Lives Matter protests where very divided between peaceful and violent. The peaceful protests had gotten there word across without having to be aggressive. The violent protests also got there message across but not the 'right way'. The lootings and burning of buildings that the protestors did got the message across that they wanted equal rights but ruined community's in doing so.
This happened in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic so the protests where breaking the lockdown rules.
The reason these protests happened are because police have had many incidents of killing African Americans before they could get trial or even if they are innocent.
Foley
Foley sound production is made after the initial movie is filmed. This is when a foley artist would use everyday objects like celery to make life like noises.
The task we was given was to take a clip from the game Mortal Kombat and add the sound effects to the video. This gives the video more of a realistic feel and sounds realistic. (because obviously they don't break actual peoples bones to get the right sound)
This is an example of foley.
I made my own foley with sounds that I made myself to create a bone breaking sound. This was made by stretching, breaking and twisting a piece of celery. The sounds sound very similar to what you would expect to hear when the certain things happen. This is because most people associate these sounds by what they hear in movies. Foley is used in a lot of movies so this is why it sounds very familiar.
There was loads of aspect into my foley project. One of the things was layering sound effects. I done this because when they where used separately they sounded out of place but when they are put together they make a more realistic sound, thats layering. There was also a watermelon sound of it being squished. That made a sound of guts. carrots also make a sort of bone breaking sound but are more of like a popping sound.
It was also recorded through a stereo microphone which I had to turn to a mono recording. It was recorded in a more compact room which didn't add any reverb to the recording.

This is what my Adobe Audition project looked like. You can see the layering used here to make the hitting sound.
the top green clip fades out at the end because thats when the noises would have stopped. Thats to make it sound realistic.
Camera Lenses
These are the camera lens photos that I took.
We used 4 different lenses in this task. I will be explaining them in order of the photos (left to right)
70 - 300mm lens
This lens is the first photo that shows up. You can see that the 70mm gives a nice close up angle of me. This gives a nice clear image
The 300mm shows a way closer image of the board, you can see me in this image because of how close it is to the board. The reason you cant see me is because we kept the camera in the same location, this was to show the same angle of the camera with the different zoom.
18 - 55mm lens
This lens shows the camera angle from 18mm (short) to 55mm (long)
The 18mm shows the image from a further away angle because it has more of a long angle feeling to it. The third image to on the gallery is the 18mm shot.
The 50mm shot has a closer shot from the other one. You can see my hand and a little of my jumper in this shot. It gives a nice crisp look to the board.
18 - 135mm lens
This is the 18mm to 135mm lens
There 18mm is the same as before with a wide angle shot.
The 135mm shot shows more of a zoom then the 50mm shot (obviously) but still has a crisp look
50mm lens
This one is just a 50mm lens.
It cannot zoom at all and keeps to one length. It would be good used for taking just one photo or like a jail cell photo.
3 News Subject explained
This is 3 different news stories that I have broke down and evaluated them all fully.
This story is about the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault that was happening in 2018. It is about 3 brave women who stepped up to the film producer Harvey Weinstein and came forward of the sexual assault that he did to them.
As you can see this article is by sky news. There is product placement to the left hand side and below. The article shows a image of the suspect and a little bit of information. There little bits of information to make it easier to read. The layout of the article is very simple and easy to follow. This makes the page easier to read.
The headline of this is 'Harvey Weinstein pleads not guilty to third sexual assault charge'
This headline draws the reader in by getting straight to the point. Its a headline that someone can see it and be like 'oh okay' and then move on and the people that want to read on can click and find out more.
This story talks about the rising tension between Russia and Ukraine. It talks about the possible 'invasion' Russia might cause
(I have to register to read on) This is used to make people who are interested sign up to a system that means they can read on. This is to push spam emails about there company to the people that sign up. This happens 9 out of 10 times.
Iso photos
Iso is the brightness of a photo. You can turn the iso up to make the image look brighter and you could turn it down to make it look more dull. The levels that you use for you brightness is called hue.
You can see by the photos above the levels of hue/ iso. You can tell the lower ones by the darker brightness and the higher ones by the brighter brightness.

PREM STAR'S CAT ATTACK
West Ham defender Kurt Zouma filmed KICKING and slapping his pet cat in horrific video
The club condemned Zouma's actions and fined him £250,000, which they state is the maximum fine they are able to hand out.
The West Ham defender is seen attacking the pet at his £2million mansion while his brother films him.
Zouma, 27, drops the moggy and boots it in mid air across the kitchen floor.
The French international then chases the animal around his dining room in front of a child as the cameraman laughs.
Zouma also hurls a pair of designer shoes at the pet - which frantically tries to escape.
In a final clip, he is seen forcefully slapping the cat in the face - and out of the child's arms.
He said: "I want to apologise for my actions. There are no excuses for my behaviour, which I sincerely regret.
"I also want to say how deeply sorry I am to anyone who was upset by the video. I would like to assure everyone that our two cats are perfectly fine and healthy.
"They are loved and cherished by our entire family, and this behaviour was an isolated incident that will not happen again."
It is understood the £30million former Chelsea player was furious that the Bengal - an expensive breed of domesticated cat that looks like a small leopard - messed up his house.
A source said: "It seemed that Kurt had got angry at the cat for accidentally smashing some sort of vase and tearing down a light fixture from the kitchen cupboard.
"But what he does next is completely unacceptable. Kurt kicks it, throws shoes at it and then slaps it. The poor cat looked so scared."
The disturbing footage was filmed by Zouma's brother Yoan and posted to Snapchat on Sunday afternoon - a day after the centre-back appeared for West Ham in the FA Cup.
The first clip was captioned "sa commence", which translates into English as "it is starting". It is replaced with a dozen laughing face emojis in later clips.
Television News Breakdown
At the time of making this the only main news coverage is the Ukraine vs Russia war. So I will breakdown a news video about it.
The main thing that will draw the watcher in will be the title. The title for this one in particular is:
What's the risk of nuclear war from the Russia-Ukraine conflict? - BBC News
The story opens up with the news reader talking straight away by exclaiming: 'Putin left the world asking'.
It then cuts to a video of the Russian president Vladimir Putin talking about putting the Russian 'strategic russian nuclear forces' on special alert. This shocked the world for the one reason. NUKES!
After the comments by Putin the BBC show the history of the nuclear weapons. They talk about the use of Nuclear weapons in World War Two. There was the atomic bombs dropped in the city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Nagasaki & Hiroshima
The atomic bomb that was dropped on the 2 different city's named Fat man and Little Boy.
The Nukes dropped on the city's shocked the whole world. The effect of the bombs is what effectively put the second world war to a end.
Over 100,000 people died to the bomb in Hiroshima and another 75,000 dead in Nagasaki. People are still being affected by the radiation to this date.
After the BBC explains the nuclear weapons they talk about the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is a treaty with over 190 (191 to be exact) country's involved. This is a group of country's to stop the widespread production of nuclear weapons.
After there is a cutaway to the amount of nukes each country has. The country with the most nukes obviously being Russia but the USA being a close second.
There was more cutaway clips of the missiles being launched shown after. There is then a expert talking and the report comes to a end.
Production Schedule
Everything on this production schedule is accurate to the times these events took place.
News Logo Photoshop
In this session I used Adobe Photoshop to make a logo for a news outlet called 'Berkshire News'. I made it to have a nice clean red and white colour scheme. This is vaguely the same colour pattern as a already existing News company called The BBC.

My Logo that I created looked like this. You can see the clear red and white colour scheme which I personally like a lot. Underneath the word 'news' a line of: Houses, a dessert, train-tracks, a road, stadium, a house by itself, the beach, some more train-tracks and another dessert can be seen.
This is actual the word Berkshire in the font of Webdings.
Storyboard
I have made a storyboard for my news report project. The storyboard will not be 100% accurate because ideas are subject to change. My storyboard looks like this
As you can see by the storyboard above its the same character but with different hair, that's because I play to play every character in this news report. This is to add to the whole not serious aspect of this news report. The second part of the storyboard which says 'German adverts play' is quiet literally what it says. I couldn't add all of the adverts because it would take up more areas then needed. The whole idea of the adverts being in German is to just throw people of guard (and for a bit of fun on my behalf).
The reason why I made the same character have different hairstyles is because I couldn't find the hats I wanted to wear.
